EDMONTON - The Steven Jyles era is officially over in Edmonton. To little surprise, the Edmonton Eskimos released the veteran quarterback just over a year after acquiring him in what is considered to be one of the most lopsided trades in franchise history.

It could be one of the most lopsided trades in CFL history.

Jyles, 30, was brought in from the Toronto Argonauts along with kicker Grant Shaw and a first-round pick in the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft in exchange for quarterback Ricky Ray last December.

Ray went out and led the Argonauts to the Grey Cup, while Jyles lost his starting job with the Eskimos, eventually falling to clipboard-holding, third-string status.

Can NFL QB Tim Tebow succeed in the CFL?
