Edmonton Eskimos re-sign CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player, J.C. Sherritt
By CON GRIWKOWSKY, QMI Agency
EDMONTON - If nothing else, rookie Edmonton Eskimos general manager Ed Hervey has proven to be as speedy in the boardroom as he was on the field. Barely a week into his tenure, the club has scored several contract TD’s as it quickly whittles down its lengthy potential free-agent list. The latest catch may have been the biggest fish of them all — the CFL’s most outstanding defensive player, linebacker JC Sherritt. “I just believe he loves it here,” said Hervey, who first noticed Sherritt on film when he was scouting ex-Esk Greg Peach. “I believe this community has embraced him the way it embraced me. There are many benefits in staying here — in remaining an Eskimo — and this is a team he feels comfortable with. “I think he believes this team is headed in the right direction and I’d like to say his signing is a true sign of that.”
