Ray's hairy deal

EDMONTON - Things are getting a little hairy for Ricky Ray.

The Edmonton Eskimos quarterback is preparing to play in just the third home playoff game of his nine-year CFL career on Sunday.

But this will be the first one he will play with a moustache, considering the post-season just so happens to coincide with what the club is calling EskiMovember — where players are letting their upper lip sprout in a show of support to raise funds and awareness for men’s health.

“I’ve never had a moustache,” Ray said, chuckling at his mini-Magnum P.I.-styled ’stache. “Just doing this for the Movember and a lot of guys are participating on this team.

“The Eskimos, we’ve got a little thing going on our site (www.esks.com) too, so if people want to come and join on one of our teams and help out, that would be great.”

While Ray followed the rules by going clean-shaven on Nov. 1, the hands-down team leader is kicker Derek Schiavone, whose chevron had about a month-long head start, but looks out of place without an accompanying sombrero.

Whatever the style, it certainly beats the tired, old playoff beard.
