EDMONTON - Julius Williams and Robert Henderson are a couple of new faces — on the Edmonton Eskimos defensive line, at least.

But the two previously ran into each other on the D-line with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and are being reunited in the wake of a knee injury to defensive end Greg Peach.

“In this game, guys are going to go down. It’s up to other guys that are behind them to pay attention and when guys go down, be able to step in,” said Williams, who just recently returned from a dislocated elbow suffered at the end of training camp. “Me and Robert played together in Jacksonville with the Jaguars. We were together for a couple weeks.

“He’s a good player, man, so it’s always good to have a guy that you already know what he can do.”

But Henderson hasn’t played a regular-season game since 2007, his last season in Southern Mississippi.

“So I’m kind of anxious,” said the six-foot-three, 283-pounder, who was drafted by the New York Giants in 2008 before a short stop in Jacksonville the next year. “I played with (Julius) in Jacksonville, he was on the line with me, so we had a little connection knowing how to pass-rush.”

LEMON AID: With Cleo Lemon sidelined by some smashmouth football against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last week, the Toronto Argonauts will start quarterback Dalton Bell in Edmonton on Friday.

“Marcus (offensive co-ordinator Crandell), and I had the opportunity to work with Dalton in Saskatchewan,” Eskimos head coach Kavis Reed said. “Once that young man plays in a system for a while, he is going to be an outstanding quarterback.

“I truly believed that. We believed that in Saskatchewan and I am not going to deviate from that, so we better be prepared to play against a very good quarterback.”

IN AND OUT: DE Greg Peach (knee), SB Adarius Bowman (ribs), DL Joe Sykes (ankle) and WR Andrew Nowacki (hamstring) did not practise and won’t play Friday. SB Fred Stamps did not participate in drills Wednesday but is probable for the game.
