Esks still not perfected
By Gerry Moddejonge, QMI Agency

A win is a win.

But when they come this early in the season there is only so much faith Edmonton Eskimos head coach Kavis Reed has in them.

Just as important to the rookie coach, who improved to 2-0 with a win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Saturday, is seeing the improvements his team needed to make over the season-opener.

“I’m not trying to be the pessimist or say the politically correct thing, but there are so many things to improve on,” Reed said. “Those guys played fast. We played faster this week than we did last week.

“That says a lot for the coaches and that also says that the guys aren’t getting comfortable in the schemes that are being employed.

“But still, it’s a good thing that we’re 2-0 and we have a lot to improve on, but when you watch the film it’s never as good as you think.”
