The third time’s a charm for Kelly Campbell.
The Edmonton Eskimos slotback caught his first touchdown pass of the season Friday against the B.C. Lions.
“It was a great feeling, man. Especially with the past mistakes that I’ve been making in the first couple of games having dropped balls,” said Campbell, who let two other touchdowns slip out of his hands in the end zone in previous games.
“It is exciting for myself to get out there and play the game that I know how to play. The team was behind me, they kept my head up. They knew I could do it and I knew I could do it.”
In fact, he was so confident it could be done that he yelled: “I told you so,” to the cameras after pulling down the six points in the rain – by far the hardest grab of his three passes to the end zone.
“I told you so?” Campbell said. It means I told you so, that this week was going to be the week that we turn it around. This is going to be the week that we were not going to give up, we were going to fight to the end, no matter what happened in the game.
“We knew that we were going to have ups and downs, but I knew that when we had a great week of practice that we were going to get it done (Friday).”
