The CFL's top receiver was back practising with the Edmonton Eskimos yesterday.

Slotback Fred Stamps returned from an illness that made him miss the first half of the week's playoff preparations.

"I'm about an eight," Stamps said, rating his health on a scale of 1-10. "I feel pretty good. I just have to get my wind back, just get out here and run a little bit more."

Despite leading the league with 85 catches for 1,402 yards and eight touchdowns, Stamps was part of an Eskimos team that was overlooked in yesterday's CFL player award nominations.

Calgary Stampeders running back Joffrey Reynolds was nominated as the West's Most Outstanding Player while the defensive nomination went to Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive end John Chick.

B.C. Lions defensive end Ricky Foley is up for Most Outstanding Canadian, Ben Archibald was nominated in the offensive lineman category and Jason Arakgi got the nod on special teams.

"To me, none of that matters," Stamps said. "It all matters when football stops. When the CFL season is over officially, wherever you finish -- Grey Cup or whatever -- that matters.

"You don't win any awards and go to the Grey Cup, you enjoy. You win awards and go to the Grey Cup, you enjoy. So that's the main focus right now, is trying to get to this Grey Cup."

Roster moves ...

Middle linebacker Maurice Lloyd and CB Byron Parker both missed yesterday's practice due to illness.

"For the last few weeks, there's been somebody that's been out because of their health and that's no different than (yesterday)," said Eskimos head coach Richie Hall. "We anticipate they'll be fully recovered by game time."

WR Maurice Mann remained sidelined with an ankle injury and is doubtful for Sunday's game in Calgary, meaning Efrem Hill will get the nod once again.

"He's not even running around right now," Hall said of Mann. "I know he's frustrated and his injury hasn't progressed to the liking of himself and as well as us."
