Forget the hurt parade, the Edmonton Eskimos have a bit of a hurl parade on their hands.
A handful of players have been sent home from practice over the week due to illness with team doctors not taking any chances of having something spread.
"We've been hit with the flu bug or whatever it is, some illness going through the locker-room," head coach Richie Hall said yesterday. "You didn't see Calvin McCarty there today, you didn't see (Jared) Zabransky there today and (Andrew) Nowacki, so these guys are a little bit under the weather.
"Give them a day off to get rested and relaxed and get the meds in them and get ready for Friday. We're just seeing what state they're in. The other ones we saw today and sent them home, they weren't very bad. It's just more or less trying to nip it in the bud before it starts up."
One of the most noticeable absences over the week was that of return man Tristan Jackson on special teams.
"He's still under the weather, he still wasn't at practice (yesterday)," said Hall. "We're more or less taking it day to day."
Jackson is expected to travel with the team, but it is still questionable whether he will play tomorrow or not.
Receiver Skylar Green is healthy and waiting in the wings just in case.
"Speed, just the overall attitude and enthusiasm," Hall said of Green's abilities. "He's hungry to play because he's been here for a little while. The guys come in here, they're excited when they get here, they learn the system but at some point in time it gets to the plateau where, 'When can I get in?' He's been patient and it hasn't dampened his attitude and his spirits. I'm excited just to get the opportunity to see him perform under the lights in a game situation."
IN AND OUT: OL John Comiskey (illness) practised for the first time this week while SB Fred Stamps (illness) remained on the sidelines once again. The league's leading receiver is expected to travel to Vancouver today.
