Hunt feels at home

When you know the system and many of the guys, it's not much of an adjustment.

That's the attitude linebacker Reggie Hunt brings.

Ostensibly, Hunt was brought in as a weak-side linebacker to bring veteran backup experience to rookie Mark Restelli.

Hunt spent the first six years of his CFL career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders under then defensive co-ordinator Richie Hall and was a four-time Western all-star and a CFL all-star in 2003.

Hunt also spent one year in Montreal and has been looking for a situation since the Als released him during training camp.

"Coming in, I don't have to learn as much," said Hunt. "I don't have to study as many plays and I can get right into the defence."

Hunt, 32, believes he hasn't been hampered by his three-month hiatus.

"I haven't been playing for a long time, but I have experience on my side," he said. "Today, running around in practice, I felt pretty good. I don't think it will take long for me to get back into it."

There are plenty of familiar faces in the locker-room, including Maurice Lloyd, his linebacking running mate when Saskatchewan won the Grey Cup in 2007.

"It made it a lot easier," said Hunt. "I played with Mo for a while in Saskatchewan, won a Grey Cup with him. He's helped me with my confidence level here.

"When Richie Hall gave me a call a couple of days ago, I was ecstatic knowing that my ex-teammates Maurice Lloyd, Scott Gordon, Randee Drew, Kai Ellis were here.

"I've got so many ex-teammates here it makes the transition so much easier, man. It feels like I'm right at home."

As far as learning the system, no problem.

"I recognize all of it," said Hunt. "It's just a reminder to me.

"The terminology is a bit different, but I feel good."
