The Edmonton Eskimos will have their lucky charm on today's flight to Montreal.

Football Boy -- a figurine of a youngster playing football -- has quietly been in the Green and Gold's locker-room for five straight road wins in the playoffs.

The club is hoping it will be six straight wins after Saturday's East Division final in Montreal against the Alouettes (11 a.m. MT, TSN, CHED).

Football Boy has been perched in the Esks' locker- room in a visiting stadium since the 2003 Grey Cup in Regina.

The statue came on the road for every stop in the 2005 post-season run through Calgary and Vancouver, and made the trip to Winnipeg last weekend for the East Division semifinal at Canad Inns Stadium.

During the regular-season the figurine is placed above a row of lockers on the offensive side of the Esks' dressing room at Commonwealth Stadium, close to fullback Mathieu Bertrand's stall.

In the playoffs, Bertrand buys into lucky superstitions.

"Of course,' he said.

"During playoffs you want to believe in everything that can help you win the football game."

FAST FACT

Football Boy had a lucky loonie under him during the 2003 Grey Cup in Regina.

No word on whether there is a special coin tied to this year's playoff run.

FINISH LINES

Bertrand didn't participate in yesterday's practice session, resting a bone bruise on one leg. He's expected to be a game-time decision.
