Keith Williams went from the penthouse to the outhouse in pretty quick time.
After starting the first six games for the Edmonton Eskimos, Williams was cut yesterday.
The rookie defensive back was sent packing after being a healthy scratch for the last two games.
"He struggled with his assignments," said Edmonton head coach Danny Maciocia. "He got exposed (against B.C.)."
Williams had eight tackles against the Lions on July 31, marking a clear sign the opposition was picking on him.
He never played another game for the Green and Gold.
The writing appeared to be on the wall last week when the Esks airlifted defensive back Airabin Justin into camp and immediately placed him on the roster, keeping Williams off the roster in Thursday's win against Saskatchewan.
"Right now we have got enough (players) in the back end," said Maciocia.
The Eskimos return to action on Sept. 1 in Calgary.
