Desperately needing another playmaker on offence, the Edmonton Eskimos have found it in Kelly Campbell.
While Jason Tucker stole the headlines last night with his last-minute touchdown catch, Campbell had a phenomenal evening - 158 receiving yards on eight catches with two touchdowns.
"He had outstanding game," said Edmonton head coach Danny Maciocia.
"He seemed like every time he touched the ball, something big was happening.
"We need guys that can stretch the field - and he can stretch the field."
Added quarterback Ricky Ray: "He is really becoming a big playmaker for this offence. He has got great speed and runs great routes. He reminds me a lot of Mookie Mitchell.
He just has a knack for getting open."
The rookie's coming out party last night came with an injury twist. The import receiver injured a knee in the second half and came out for a number of plays.
"It was my idea (to come back in the game)," said Campbell, who made a key grab late in the tilt. "I told (the medical staff) I was good. I was lying a little bit but it all worked out."
