A leg up on the job

Running back Damien Anderson won the battle but he hasn't won the war - yet.

While Anderson prevailed in the off-season battle with Tyler Ebell - as the latter running back was traded to Toronto - Edmonton head coach Danny Maciocia isn't just handing the starting tailback job to Anderson in training camp.

"This is not Damien's job right now," said Maciocia yesterday after the first Eskimo training camp practices.

"He has a leg up on the job. (But) we have got a couple of other guys here that are pretty good."

A four-year NFL vet, Anderson has just 225 CFL rushing yards in his brief five-game Canadian career.

Import AJ Harris (1,616 rushing yards in 44 games at Northern Illinois) is the intriguing prospect competing against Anderson.
