The Edmonton Eskimos now own half of the dynamic duo from Boston College.

Quarterback Matt Ryan and receiver Kevin Challenger were a very potent combination in American college football, with Ryan being selected third overall in the recent NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons.

The Eskimos obtained Challenger in a trade with the Calgary Stampeders yesterday.

"If you watched the NFL Network last week," said Edmonton head coach Danny Maciocia, "Matt Ryan's highlight reel - about 40 or 50% of his throws were to No. 84 at Boston College and that is Kevin Challenger.

"That says it all right there."

The 25-year-old Montreal native finished with 45 receptions for 551 yards and five touchdowns last season at Boston College.

The 5-foot-8, 180 pounder was taken 14th overall by the Calgary Stampeders last year and had just signed a two-year CFL contract (one year and an option) last week.

"I got traded without playing one game of football in the CFL," he remarked.

"(But) I am really excited.
