It's going to be a nervous morning around the Edmonton Eskimos' locker-room.

Middle linebacker A.J. Gass will realize his fate from the CFL head office before the lunch hour - learning if he will be allowed to play Saturday against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Gass was ejected from last weekend's game for a wild scrap that featured him throwing a Calgary Stampeder helmet 35 yards down the field.

Edmonton head coach Danny Maciocia doesn't expect Gass to be suspended. Instead, he just expects a fine.

But if Gass is suspended for this week, expect Edmonton brass to be very unhappy.

Not only will the club lose its defensive quarterback, but it will also be stuck with only two practices remaining to prep another player at the key position.

If Gass is forced to sit, Michael Botterill could be the emergency replacement in the middle.

Or Antico Dalton could slide into that role.

Barring minor medical miracles, Edmonton is already going to be without OL Dan Comiskey, SB Jason Tucker, LB Shannon Garrett and RB Tyler Ebell.
