Housing crisis averted

It seems the Edmonton Eskimo housing crisis has been averted.

While 20 new Eskimos were looking for homes in a red-hot housing economy earlier in the week - with billeting even being talked about - it appears every player will be able to find an apartment or home.

But the underlying part to this story is the massive outpouring of support that came after the Sun made the story front-page news on Monday.

The Eskimos received close to 200 calls or emails from citizens willing to help.

"They've got either a lead on a place or they know of something that has come available," said Eskimos spokesman Dave Jamieson.

The stunning amount of interest definitely impressed the organization.

"But if you look at what Edmonton historically does in situations when people need something, they always step up," said Jamieson.

After spending a few weeks in a local hotel used as the team's training camp headquarters, the players are supposed to be in their own accommodations by tomorrow.
