WHO'S HOT

STEVEN JYLES, QB

Jyles throws a good ball, but through the first part of camp they weren't always on target. Yesterday, he was right on the money.

TREVOR GAYLOR, WR

Veteran receiver making things look easy out there with his effortless stride and soft hands.

WHO'S NOT

KENDRICK STARLING, WR

Rookie receivers trying to crack the lineup, can't afford to have passes bounce off their hands.

CUTS

The Eskimos released DL Thomas Carroll yesterday. Carroll, 24, a native of Lakewood, New Jersey, played at the University of Miami before signing as a free agent with Edmonton.

INJURIES

OL Patrick Kabongo (sprained ankle), DL Rob Brown (knee), WR Ryan Kelly (leg), K Warren Kean (leg), WR Pat Woodcock (leg), DB Jason Gross (leg), RB Josh Ranek (hamstring), WR Patrick Johnson (hamstring), WR T.J. Acree (hamstring).

NOTABLES

Tony Tompkins had a good day catching the ball. The Eskimos kick returner stepped up in the place of injured receiver T.J. Acree and made a number of good catches on offence ... RB Calvin McCarty, the Esks' fourth pick in this year's CFL Canadian Draft is taking reps both at the RB and FB positions. "He's the best fourth-round pick I've ever been associated with," said Esks head coach Danny Maciocia.
