Hard feelings in Winnipeg led to signing

An ugly break-up between Stanford Samuels and Winnipeg general manger Brendan Taman allowed the Edmonton Eskimos to officially sign the 26-year-old defensive back to a long-term contract.

"I really want this to be exposed because (Taman) is a snake," Samuels told Sun Media yesterday of the apparent ugly relations between the player and GM.

One side of the argument is Samuels verbally agreed to return to Winnipeg, but didn't send a signed contract back to Winnipeg on the morning CFL free agency started this week.

But Samuels has a different version.

"The contract that I received (from Winnipeg) is not what we agreed upon," said Samuels.

It's believed Winnipeg offered close to $90,000 while Edmonton secured him for almost $100,000.
