Ron McClendon had the best game of his career last season against Montreal.
Come Saturday, the Edmonton Eskimos running back will get another crack at them.
McClendon, 25, is expected to take the place of Troy Davis in the backfield when the Eskimos travel to Montreal.
"Getting the opportunity is great," McClendon said. "Getting the opportunity under these circumstances (missing playoffs) is not so great. But the opportunity to play football makes me happy."
Last season McClendon suited up in nine games. This year he has yet to play, having to make way for Davis.
"I learned last year to stay sharp because you never really know when you're going to get a chance to play," McClendon said. "This year it was easy for me because I knew my role and I was expected to stay sharp."
