Toby Zeigler is finally getting his shot.

The raw CFL rookie is going to take veteran Ed Hervey's wide receiver position this weekend when the Edmonton Eskimos battle the Montreal Alouettes.

"I have been waiting all season and I finally get an opportunity to play," said an excited Zeigler yesterday. "And Ed has been a great guy with the situation. Since meetings (yesterday) he has been in my ear with little pointers."

Running back Ron McClendon will also likely join the Esks on the road this week, replacing Troy Davis as starting running back as the Green and Gold begin to audition players for next year.

It also appears Richard Alston could play, which means Tony Tompkins could be sitting at home. But Danny Maciocia will not reveal any roster changes until later this week.

As for the quarterback situation, Steven Jyles took reps with the first team offence while Jason Johnson took his turn against the first-team defence. But it's clear Ricky Ray will play in Montreal, with either one or both of his backups seeing time in the game.

FINISH LINES: Failing to come close to filling Steve Marsh's shoes, linebacker Gerald Dixon has been cut. "The last couple of games he hasn't played well," said Maciocia ... Adam Braidwood and Steve Charbonneau are healthy and can play this week.
