Danny's return no guarantee

Building the Edmonton Eskimos into a playoff contender for 2007 will take serious work - but Danny Maciocia isn't ready to talk about it quite yet.

While it's expected he will return for a third season as head coach, that's not a guarantee.

For that reason, he's staying pretty quiet.

"It is not official yet," he said of being the head coach next year.

Clearly, Maciocia is privately assembling his own to-do list if he's going to tackle the rebuilding job.

"I just need to get through these next couple of weeks and then sit down with management and see what they are thinking (about for re-loading for 2007)," he explained.

"And I want to tell them what I am thinking."

SHORT HIT ...

Maciocia has killed the off-base speculation that Jason Tucker might be playing through an injury.

"He is not hurt," said the coach.

"He took a couple of pops (on Saturday), scored a touchdown and had 100+ yards.

"If he is hurt, then I am afraid to think of what he looks like healthy."

Some reports suggested the slotback was dealing with a leg problem.
