In desperate need of good news, the Edmonton Eskimos could definitely get some of it later this week.
If there isn't another setback in the next couple of days, A.J. Gass and Mookie Mitchell will be added to the roster for Friday's game against the undefeated Montreal Alouettes.
Both veterans have been sidelined with right hamstring injuries since Canada Day, but both practised at full speed yesterday with No. 1 units. Mitchell ran his regular routes at slotback and Gass was with the first-string punt team.
But head coach Danny Maciocia isn't quite ready to give both players the green light for Friday night. He wants to see both come through two more days of practice sessions before guaranteeing a spot on the 42-man roster.
However, Mitchell believes there is no issue."I know I'll be ready to go for Friday," he said.
FINISH LINES: Even though Gass appears to be back to health, Quincy Stewart will likely continue to patrol the middle of the defence ... Former NFLer Roosevelt Williams took some reps with the first-string secondary at yesterday's practice, sharing time with Malcolm Frank.
