Like almost every player, Andre Sommersell was hoping for some form of payment for giving up No. 53 to Joe Montford.

Instead, he got the square root of nothing.

"I asked for $1,000 and (Montford) just laughed," said Sommersell.

The $1,000 was more of a sarcastic total. In reality, he made a much more serious offer of $20 to give up the number, but still got shut out.

"(The Eskimos) just figured they would take it away from me without paying," continued Sommersell.

"I guess I was bamboozled."

The move isn't a surprise, considering Sommersell is a raw CFL rookie and Montford is a legend in the league.

But Sommersell is as easy going as they come in the locker-room and doesn't hold any hard feelings.

"I'll be good," he said, before revealing his new No. 96 is actually his old Colorado State number.
