Jean-Francois Romeo is suddenly jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
Although he has less than a month under his belt with the Eskimo organization after being a free agent signing out of Laval University, the rookie receiver will join the Esks' roster for tomorrow's game in Calgary.
Tim Fleiszer's departure means the club has to fill a Canadian roster spot. But unlike every other week in the regular season, they can't take anyone off the one-game injured list.
So, the team can only grab somebody off their practice roster - which left a choice between Edmonton native Jarred Winkel or Romeo.
"It has to do with special teams," said coach Danny Maciocia.
"And Romeo was the way to go."
