After missing all of training camp, middle linebacker A.J. Gass returned to Edmonton yesterday and was expected to rejoin the team for their daily meeting.
Gass's mother passed away prior to the start of camp and with family business to take care of, he was told by the Eskimos not to return until he felt fully ready to resume anchoring the defence.
"I think we did it right. I'm not worried about A.J.," said head coach Danny Maciocia. "When he takes the field you'll know that he hasn't really missed all that much time. He'll be all business and we'll be fine at that position."
Leading up to Gass's return, Quincy Stewart had been occupying the middle linebacker post.
"He's the heart and soul of our defence. He really runs the show," added veteran Shannon Garrett.
