THE HITS

DAHRRAN DIEDRICK (RB): Showed off good hands coming out of the backfield - something he had little practice at while at the University of Nebraska. "I worked on my hands real hard all off-season," said Diedrick. "Ed Hervey told me to keep a softball with me, throw it up all over the place and work on the hand-eye co-ordination."

TREVOR GAYLOR (WR): All the receivers had a strong day, but few catches were better than Gaylor's grab. He slipped the coverage and ran under a long toss from Khari Jones.

AND MISSES

DONALD BRADY (HB): The veteran had an interception lined up inside the five-yard line, but the pass fell through his hands. The self-imposed penalty for Brady was 10 pushups.

ANTICO DALTON (LB): Joined the Esks' sick bay when he was taken off the field on a golf cart during the second session. Dalton and Greig Longchamps went down, and Dalton's ankle was rolled on.

NOTES

There was a nasty collision in the first practice between Mookie Mitchell and Malcolm Frank. Frank left with a minor hip pointer ... Sean Fleming had no trouble with the handful of field-goal attempts he made. Rodney William didn't fare as well kicking off the tee but didn't make any mistakes holding for Fleming.

HURT PARADE

Daniel Bertrand, Tony Tompkins and Randy Spencer all took some "steps" to recovery as they ran the Clarke Park grandstand stairs.

TODAY AT CLARKE PARK: First practice - 7:50 a.m.-9:30.

Second practice - 9:50 a.m.-11:35
