THE HITS

THE KICKERS: Both veteran Sean Fleming and newcomer Rodney Williams were hammering the pigskin. Fleming hit one that sailed for more than 55 yards and Williams was booming right with him, nailing one over 60 yards.

CHRIS COLLINS (WR): The former University of Mississippi standout showed some flair when he got behind Malcolm Frank and caught a bang-on pass from Ricky Ray for a score during scrimmage action.

THE MISSES

ROBERT LEBLANC (WR): Tried to haul in a toss, but it went off his fingers into the hands of defensive lineman Robert Brown, who then flipped it back to much more fleet-of-foot J.R. LaRose.

TONY TOMPKINS (KR/SB): With his calf still bothering him, Tompkins sat out practice and had to watch Toby Zeigler and Keyuo Craver do a decent job of handling the kick-return duties.

NOTES

The receiving corps must have liked the fact there were about 2,000 people eyeing practice yesterday instead of the normal rows of empty bleachers. Jason Tucker made some solid catches on short routes early on and Chris Cole, who is vying for a roster spot, darted behind Jonte Buhl to snare a strike from Ricky Ray ... After some struggles on Saturday, Reggie Durden redeemed himself with a nifty interception as he stepped in front of Mookie Mitchell to steal a throw from Ray.

HURT PARADE

Patrick Kabongo's leg allowed him to work out gingerly and Deitan Dubuc sat out with a hamstring strain.

TODAY AT CLARKE PARK: First practice - 7:50-9:30 a.m. Second practice - 9:50-11:35 a.m.
