Steven Jyles - the Edmonton Eskimos' hotshot young quarterback - has left town.
No, he hasn't been cut.
And no, he hasn't been suspended.
Instead, the 23-year-old rookie has returned to Louisiana to be married this weekend to girlfriend Ashley Smith.
"He didn't know he was going to be at a professional training camp when plans were being made to get married," said Eskimo head coach Danny Maciocia, who let Jyles fly home yesterday.
"So we're extremely supportive."
Jyles has been one of the hot topics at camp this week, with his strong arm, effortless throwing motion and accuracy.
The young gun is scheduled to miss three days of practices, but Maciocia isn't worried that will cause him a setback in implementing the playbook when he returns.
"Steven is a bright, bright guy," said the coach.
"He's going to play in this league for a number of years."
Maciocia's biggest concern was making sure Jyles didn't miss his flight.
"This is the second or third time they are trying to plan this (wedding), so I told him to make sure he didn't miss his cab ride (to the airport) or the flight because if you do, chances are we won't see you anymore," cracked Maciocia.
Jyles made his flight out of Edmonton.
