Danny Maciocia emerged from the Eskimos' draft war room and admitted his head felt like it was spinning.
Who could blame him?
After several weeks of preparation, the head coach had just added eight new non-import players in less than two hours.
Here's a thumbnail sketch of yesterday's picks:
ADAM BRAIDWOOD, FIRST-OVERALL PICK
DE, WASHINGTON ST.
Maciocia's take: "If you just talk to (Braidwood) for a few minutes, you know he's going to put it on the line every time he lines up."
JASON NUGENT, 2ND ROUND
Maciocia: "There's one (video) clip of him where ... he clearly outruns 10 other guys to the ball carrier."
DWAYNE MUNDLE, 3RD ROUND
LB, WEST VIRGINIA
Maciocia: "He went to West Virginia as a running back, was converted to a free safety and played some outside linebacker for them."
MIKE WILLIAMS, 3RD ROUND
DE, BOISE ST.
A 2007 project because he's staying in school next fall.
Maciocia: "He can play the perimeter or play inside and we think he will just get better with another year at Boise State."
Andrew Brown, 4th round LB, Lafayette
Maciocia: "He will knock your head off, based on what we have seen on film with his special teams play."
JEAN PHILIPPE ABRAHAM, 4TH ROUND
Maciocia: "He is not the kind of kid that tests real well, but if you watch him play, he is always around the football."
NICK BISAILLON, 5TH ROUND RB, LAVAL
Maciocia: "We think he can be a multi-dimensional player."
Grieg Longchamps, 6th round
Maciocia: "He fell off the charts because he had some issues regarding academics and his play suffered."
