With voting for the CFL Coach of the Year award based on regular-season success only, Danny Maciocia isn't considered the favourite to win today, according to CFL insiders.

Instead, Calgary's Tom Higgins is the slight favourite to receive the award at this afternoon's luncheon in Toronto.

And CFL fans across the country share the same sentiment. In voting on the CFL website, Higgins is the choice to win among 37% of voters, followed very closely by Maciocia (36%) and Mike Clemons (27%).

REPORT 'NOT TRUE,' SAY ESKS: The Eskimos vehemently deny an Ottawa newspaper report stating the club wants to alter the guidelines of the salary management system that was just approved last month by the board of governors.

"We aren't sure where these things start, but it is simply not true," said Eskimo spokesman Dave Jamieson.

"The Eskimos support the salary management system."

Rick LeLacheur - the Eskimos' chief operating officer - played a key role in developing the SMS.
