Last day in Green and Gold?

Sooner rather than later.

Jason Maas will become a Hamilton Tiger-Cat later this week, not next week.

The Sun has learned that while it was the intention of the Eskimos to take their time working out details on the trade which will send Maas to Hamilton, the timing of Maas visiting his mother in Indiana Saturday and the Tiger-Cats' wish to strike while the iron is hot will result in the deal being press conferenced in Hamilton Thursday or Friday.

Maas, who will head to Hamilton to restart his career as a starter in a deal which will bring offensive lineman Tim Bakker back to Edmonton and quarterback Danny McManus to finish out his career as an emergency quarterback and coach-in-training, would also involve a first round draft choice coming to Edmonton.

The deal follows the late season trade which made Dan Comiskey and Troy Davis Eskimos.

Maas will spend his last day with the Eskimos today as they clean out their dressing room stalls and attend the year-end party.
