Kevin Lefsrud would have taken the bet.
If anybody had offered him a $250 wager earlier this week based on who Edmonton Eskimo head coach Danny Maciocia would name as his starting quarterback for Sunday's CFL Western final, Lefsrud would have taken Ricky Ray and laughed all the way to the bank.
WOULDA BEEN SHOCKED
"I would have been shocked if (Maciocia) said Jason (Maas was starting)," remarked the member of the offensive line who will be snapping the ball to Ray on Sunday.
"We knew it was going to be Ricky.
"This doesn't shock any of us.
"If it does (shock you), then you haven't been around the team and haven't seen how things operate around here.
"Ricky is the No. 1 guy and he has had very good success against B.C. I can't see that being any different (this weekend). For us it wasn't an issue, it was more of a media issue than anything else."
Ed Hervey -- one of Ray's favourite targets -- is pleased his head coach took the question off the table.
"In my mind he has eliminated all the controversy for the rest of the week and it allows us to focus on the game," said Hervey.
"To be asked questions on who is going to be the starter or who should be the starter ... it is something as players that we don't need to be concerned with.
"We expect (Ray) to play a whole lot better and we are going to rally behind him."
