I will play: Young

JONATHAN HUNTINGTON -- Edmonton Sun

Don't count out Glen Young.

Although it has been suggested the veteran Edmonton Eskimo linebacker and special teams player is likely finished for the year with a knee injury, that doesn't appear to be the case.

"That is well over-exaggerated," said Young, who looked much better yesterday in the Eskimo compound than he did at McMahon Stadium on Sunday in the West semi-final.

Young left the field with part of his uniform pants on his left leg rolled up.

"I don't think it is anything major," said the 36-year-old, who caused a fumble in the first quarter on a punt return that led to Edmonton's first points.

"I just got some swelling. I can jog on it."

And Young believes that by Friday -- when head coach Danny Maciocia has to declare his injured players -- that he will be ready to play this weekend.

"I'll tell you right now, I am going (to play)," he stated.

LATE HITS: Although plenty of attention will be on the quarterbacks when the Eskimos resume practising tomorrow, the coaches will be closely watching DE Rashad Jeanty and CB Davis Sanchez. Both players could be activated from the injured list for the weekend.
