Mike Bradley didn't expect the really bad news.

"I was pretty optimistic that it was just a bad twist or sprain or maybe a hyper-extension (of my right knee)," said Bradley.

Instead, the backup running back and special teams demon for the Edmonton Eskimos has a torn ACL in his right knee and is finished for the year. He'll likely have surgery this fall.

"From a special teams perspective, it's a huge loss," said head coach Danny Maciocia.

"He's a veteran, well respected and a high-energy guy. He plays every play like it's his last play."

Bradley's last play of the year was Monday in Toronto.

The four-year non-import vet was in hot pursuit of the ball after a blocked Argo punt. His right foot got caught in the field turf and another player landed on him.

In the first of a three-year deal, Bradley will likely rehab in Ontario this winter.

"From all indications, I should be ready for training camp," he said.

SHORT YARDAGE: With experience in NFL pre-season games this summer, Dahrran Diedrick will likely take Bradley's spot as a second return option to Tony Tompkins on kickoffs ... Few players had more jump or spark in practice this week than Keyuo Craver - and he gets his chance to shine for real tomorrow against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. As expected, the rookie DB will replace Davis Sanchez, who is finished for the regular season with a groin injury. "We think (Craver) has got tremendous cover skills," said Maciocia. Sanchez might return for the playoffs.

LATE HITS: It's official: the defensive line is once again healthy. Cedric Scott will play tomorrow at Commonwealth, sending rookie Charles Alston - one of the heroes from Monday for causing John Avery to fumble which set up the winning score - to the sideline ... Import defensive end Antico Dalton comes off the roster this week so Craver can be activated ... Veteran Sandy Annunziata returns as the backup on the O-line, replacing rookie Rhett McLane ... Deitan Dubuc and Robert Leblanc - with just one game under his belt from this summer - take the non-import roster vacancies caused by Sanchez and Bradley.
