More than bumps, bruises

TORONTO -- The Eskimos are staring at a short week as they prepare for the Saskatchewan Roughriders -- and could be staring at two new additions to the injured-reserved list.

On the most bizarre play of yesterday's 17-13 win against the Toronto Argos at Rogers Centre, Mike Bradley suffered a ligament injury in his right knee, the same knee he hurt in Montreal that forced him to the sidelines for two games.

Rookie Dahrran Diedrick charged through to block a Noel Prefontaine punt late in the first half with Singor Mobley recovering the ball inside the Argo 30-yard line. But Mobley fumbled the ball right back into the waiting arms of Prefontaine.

The wild string of turnovers gave Toronto a new set of downs - but more importantly for the Eskimos, Bradley was hurt in the melee.

"I bent down to scoop up the ball and somebody fell on me and I twisted (the knee) funny," said Bradleyt.

Compounding the problem was the fact Bradley's right foot got caught in the field turf.

"Apparently I made the wrong choice with cleats today," remarked Bradley, who could have worn "flat shoes" instead yesterday.

Bradley didn't return for the second half and will likely have the knee re-evaluated today.

Bradley was the second casualty of the first half, as defensive back Davis Sanchez didn't survive the second Argo offensive series of the day, suffering a groin injury.

"I knew it was sore (before the game)," said Sanchez. "I had it taped up and wrapped up, but as soon as I tried to make one hard break (yesterday) I felt a pop."

Sanchez was changed into street clothes before the end of the first half, forcing Steve Marsh to drop from linebacker to the secondary for the rest of the game.

Head coach Danny Maciocia has until Friday afternoon to declare his roster for Saturday's tilt against the Riders.

LATE HITS: Sean Fleming only had five points yesterday, leaving him one point shy of tying Dave Cutler for top spot on the all-time Eskimo scoring list.
