With cornerback Davis Sanchez on the shelf with a hamstring injury, rookie defensive back Gerald Dixon will start in the Edmonton Eskimos secondary.

While the 23-year-old DB may be a rookie, Dixon knows quarterback Kerry Joseph and the Ottawa Renegades receiving corps are going to test his cover abilities early and often.

"I'm the new guy out there, you've just got to show and make plays," Dixon said. "I think I fared pretty good when (Winnipeg) went at me.

"(Ottawa) coming at me is not really going to be a problem. I'm just going to have to step up and do what I have to do."

DB Keyuo Craver was also added to the roster this week.

In addition to seeing duty in the secondary, look for Craver to log time returning kickoffs.
