TOMORROW'S SCHEDULE

9 to 11 a.m. at Concordia University College

FIRST DOWN

First 315-pound OL Patrick Kabongo went with 195-pound DB William Loftus. Then Kabongo took on 205-pound LB A.J. Gass. On the undercard, RB Ron McLendon had a go with DB Kelly Wiltshire, while LB Singor Mobley got into it with OL Joe McGrath. All four bouts went beyond slap and tickle with each of the combatants forming a fist and raining blows on their opponents. When order was restored following the McLendon-Wiltshire and Mobley-McGrath scraps, head coach Danny Maciocia read the riot act to his troops. "Stuff happens," explained Maciocia, who threatened to keep the squad on the field well into the afternoon if the players failed to refrain from fisticuffs. "Hopefully, it's all out of their system. It's been a pleasant camp up to now. But at some point you've got to put an end to it because it would have been play after play after play."

SECOND DOWN

QB Ricky Ray was back in camp yesterday but did not venture outside the locker-room. However, Ray, who hyperextended his right knee, in Friday's pre-season draw against Winnipeg, climbed aboard a stationary bike. "That's pretty good," said Maciocia. "I don't think there was much pain and when he got on the bike, he felt really, really good. We didn't expect him to ride the bike. Already, those are positive signs right there." Ray is a definite scratch for Thursday's rematch with the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg, but Maciocia remains confident the star pivot will be ready for the Esks' June 24 season opener. Adding insult to injury, the man who grounded Ray on the play, DL Marcus Jones, was cut by the Blue Bombers yesterday.

PARING DOWN

Veteran DB/long snapper Roger Reinson, import LB Robert Grant, import OL Michael Thompson, import P/K Chris Brewer were released prior to yesterday's workouts. The Esks needed to trim 10 others from their roster by 10 p.m. last night.
