The Edmonton Eskimos have scheduled a rookie camp for the first time in a long while.
CFL newcomers are slated to hit the field at Concordia University College next Thursday.
"When you look at the number of guys that we're bringing in, we need to have it," said head coach Danny Maciocia of the rookie camp. "They'll get a jump-start on the material and when we go to the main camp and introduce it for the second time they'll know exactly what we're talking about."
Two members of the national junior champion Edmonton Huskies as well as a Huskies alum have been invited to join the Esks' training camp mix.
Linebacker Jason Bobst and defensive back J.R. Larose lined up with the champs last season and will audition for the Green and Gold. Offensive lineman Ryan Karhut, who last played junior in '03 and spent part of last season at the University of Central Florida, rounds out the list of invitees.
LATE HITS: The Montreal Alouettes managed to add an additional 200 seats to their season ticket base. Their subscriber base is now 17,200.
"That's the highest number of season tickets in the modern history of the club," said Als president Larry Smith during a conference call yesterday. "Where there were single tickets we paired up people and as a result were able to sell extra tickets."
There's still 2,000 on the waiting list for season tickets.
