Last week, there were glimpses.

Perhaps, it was the reception on the slant route and the demonstrative first-down signal that followed.

Or maybe it was turning up the sideline, lowering the shoulder into an Ottawa RedBlacks defender and stepping out of bounds like nothing happened.

But more than likely, it was the pancake block of RedBlacks free-safety Eddie Elder.

In the 32-7 Week 9 CF: win over the RedBlacks last Sunday, for the first time this season, Nik Lewis looked similar to the Nik Lewis that the Calgary Stampeders and their fans have grown accustomed to watching over the past decade.

Even though the 32-year-old finished with a modest four catches for 34 yards, the performance has provided Lewis with a foundation to build on.

A month ago, before spending a few weeks on the sidelines as a somewhat-healthy scratch, Lewis’ wandering mind almost got the best of him.
