CALGARY - Sederrik Cunningham had to be patient.

It’s been nearly three years since he played his last football game with the NCAA’s Furman University Paladins, and injuries and circumstance have conspired to keep him off the field ever since, including all of last season after he signed with the NFL’s Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free-agent.

Last weekend, the 5-foot-11 wide receiver stepped in for the Calgary Stampeders on special teams, returning four kicks for 120 yards and four punts for 36 yards.

“It felt great,” Cunningham said. “I got hurt in Green Bay so didn’t really get a chance to play in any games, so that was my first professional football game, really, other than pre-season.

“It’s a blessing from God — that’s how I see it — just to be able to play with my brothers and play with my teammates.”
