CALGARY - The reigning CFL most outstanding player is a running back and could be back in action this weekend for the Calgary Stampeders.

That would be Jon Cornish, who's moved much closer to game action after suffering a concussion in the season-opener, and said he expects to play against the Ottawa RedBlacks on Sunday.

Likewise, the other part of the dynamic Canadian duo of rushers in Matt Walter will possibly be playing after getting over his concussion.

To top it off, a third running back in Jock Sanders, whose forte is kick returns, could return from the rib injury that sidelined him last outing.

Which leaves Hugh Charles potentially in no-man's land one week after compiling 102 yards on 14 carries in the Stampeders' 30-20 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

"You've just got to roll with the punches," said Charles, who's well aware of his seemingly tenuous status.
