CALGARY - The CFL's reigning most outstanding player may be back this weekend for the Calgary Stampeders.

At least star running back Jon Cornish believes he will.

Cornish, who has been out of action since suffering a concussion in the June 28 season opener, said he plans to fully practice Wednesday in anticipation of Sunday's clash at the Ottawa RedBlacks.

“I've been ready to play for about two weeks,” said the league's top rusher from last season.

The Stamps won't practice Tuesday and had just a brief session on Monday at McMahon Stadium.

Cornish said one key to his return was going on the CFL's six-game injury list, which forced him to stop pushing to return.

“I kept trying to get back, when all I needed really was time,” he said. “So, you get some time on the six-game, and that allowed me to let my muscles relax and then I saw real progress. Very quick progress, too. I felt maybe after one week on the six-game, I was able to play.”
