The first Battle of Alberta of 2014 was no slam dunk.
There was a lot to like, a lot to forget. Some good, some bad.
“I wouldn’t say bad,” Stamps QB Bo Levi Mitchell said of his club’s 26-22 victory at Commonwealth Stadium.
“Yeah, there were things out there that were frustrating us.
“But we got the win and that’s the most important thing.”
That win puts the Stamps alone at the top of the standings at 4-0 for the first time since 1996.
But GM/head coach John Hufnagel wasn’t doing somersaults after his offence struggled to move the ball for the second straight week.
Mitchell acknowledged the other two facets of the game – the defence and special teams – were largely responsible for the past two wins.
“Last week, we had to lean on our defence,” Mitchell said. “This week, we leaned on our special teams.
“Those guys played outstanding in every facet. It was fun to watch.”
