The Calgary Stampeders are running low on running backs.

Both first- and second-string ball carriers, Jon Cornish and Matt Walter, are dealing with concussions.

That will likely mean third- and fourth-stringers, Jock Sanders and Martell Mallett, will be suiting up when the Stamps put their 4-0 unbeaten string on the line Friday against the visiting B.C. Lions (8 p.m., TSN, News Talk 770).

Cornish was at McMahon Stadium for Friday’s brief stretching session and updated the media on how his recovery is coming along.

“I feel great,” the reigning MOP said. “I’ve been feeling good for about a week now.

“I sort of thought me rushing back was not an ideal thing. My head has been fine but I have other issues going on related to the concussion and I’m trying to make sure they’re all good before I rush back.

“Maybe I’m on the six-game for three games. Maybe it’s six. It doesn’t really matter. For now, my priority is getting all good.”
