Some would say unfortunately.

Others might say fortunately.

But either way, Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish, sidelined by a concussion, doesn’t have to look far for advice.

His offensive co-ordinator, Dave Dickenson, battled head injuries late in his decorated CFL career.

His teammate, offensive lineman Dan Federkeil — before returning to the sport last season — was forced to retire from the NFL in 2009 due to concussions.

And then there’s Dimitri Tsoumpas.

Tsoumpas, who decided to walk away from football over off-season in the prime of his career at just 28 years old after suffering a concussion last summer, has been helping keep an eye on the CFL’s reigning Most Outstanding Player in his new role as a strength and conditioning assistant for the Stamps.
