CALGARY - Since the day he arrived in the CFL, Charleston Hughes has shown a knack for getting after the quarterback.

It’s clear the Calgary Stampeders defensive end has something you can’t teach, a certain inherent ability to find ways to wreak havoc in opposing teams’ backfields.

For the first 31/2 seasons of Hughes’ career, the native of Saginaw, Mich., was one of the most-consistent pass-rushers in the league, registering 27 sacks in 62 regular-season games.

But since the midway point of the 2012 campaign, Hughes has gone from a player defences were aware of to a player defences have to gameplan around and absolutely have to account for pre-snap or there’s a pretty good chance the Northwood University product is going to blow that play up before it even has a chance.
