CALGARY - John Hufnagel answered the question before it could even be asked.

The Calgary Stampeders GM/head coach kicked off his post-practice media scrum by announcing Bo Levi Mitchell is his starting quarterback.

“OK, I’ll answer the question that’s going to be asked,” Hufnagel said. “After a lot of deliberation, thought and discussions with Dave (Dickenson, offensive co-ordinator), examining all the results we had throughout training camp practices and the two pre-season games, it was very close. It was a photo finish, so to speak.

“It is my belief that we are very fortunate as a football team that we have two young men that can lead this football team and win games for us.

“Having said that, Bo Levi Mitchell will be starting the Montreal game.”

Mitchell was pumped to hear he’d get the start when the Stamps kick off the season Saturday against the visiting Montreal Alouettes (1 p.m. at McMahon Stadium, TSN, News Talk 770).
