CALGARY - Max Caron is the ultimate case in measurables vs. film.

Running around cones in shorts and a t-shirt vs. running through a blocker in pads.

When the Calgary Stampeders selected the Concordia Stingers linebacker with the 16th-overall selection in Tuesday's 2014 CFL Draft, they saw an instinctual and intellectual player who finds a way to get to the football.

The fact is, if the 24-year-old hadn't run a 4.90-second 40-yard dash at the CFL Combine in March, the slowest in his position group, or posted a three-cone drill time better than 7.53, also the lowest of the linebackers, or shuttled better than 4.60, again sitting at the bottom of his linebacking peers, Caron may not have been available near the end of the second round.
