CALGARY - Maurice Price had his wallet lightened Tuesday.

One day after making inflammatory tweets about Michael Sam, an openly gay player drafted on the weekend by the St. Louis Rams.

It was almost as if Price knew it was coming.

"Highly disturbing & uncomfortable that under current constitution individuals have been FINED for verbalizing their thoughts," Price tweeted after kicking off a firestorm on the social media website.

The CFL responded Tuesday by fining Price an undisclosed amount.

"The CFL will not tolerate discrimination of any kind," CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon said in a statement.

"Whether its race, religion or sexual preference, our values are of acceptance and equality. We fully support openly gay athletes in our league, and in the sports community in general."

Former Stamps safety Eric Fraser, who was selected by the Ottawa RedBlacks in the expansion draft, was one of the first to condemn Price's anti-gay stance.
