The Stamps are holding the Mayo.

Calgary Stampeders GM/head coach John Hufnagel announced Thursday that import linebacker Deron Mayo has signed a contract extension with the Red & White.

“I love playing in Calgary,” Mayo said in a media release. “It’s a great city and I really enjoy playing for Coach Huff. I also have great teammates and I’m looking forward to another great season and making a run for a championship.”

Mayo, 25, is entering his third season with the Stamps. After playing primarily on special teams as a rookie in 2012, Mayo became a starter at outside linebacker during Week 4 of the '13 season and finished second on the team with 57 tackles. He added five sacks, one interception, two fumble recoveries and two pass knockdowns. Mayo continued to excel at special teams, recording nine tackles.
